OVERVIEW
 
FIDIC Conditions of Contract are increasingly used by the international construction Industry throughout the world. The two courses have been designed to offer a complete and effective understanding and application of the FIDIC Conditions of Contract and the management of contract claims. While Module 1 course provides a practical guide to understanding and use of the 1999 FIDIC Conditions of Contract and Multi-lateral Development Banks Harmonized Conditions of Contract, Module 2 provides practical advice to those working with the FIDIC Conditions of Contract in the management of claims, understanding, defending and achieving the resolution of claims and the working of Disputes Adjudication Boards and Arbitration.
 
COURSE MATERIALS
 
All delegates will be provided the following materials, in English:

  • FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Construction 1999 Edition (The Red Book)
  • FIDIC Conditions of Contract for Plant & Design – Build, 1999 Edition (The Yellow Book)
  • Schedule of overheads
  • Work exercises
  • Notes on changes incorporated in the MDB’s Harmonized Construction Contract

Both modules/courses provide the necessary knowledge for and targets professionals from:

  • Government Ministries and Agencies;
  • Private Sector Employers;
  • Consulting Engineers;

 
 

  • Contractors;
  • Quantity Surveyors & Architects;
  • Legal Advisers; and
  • All involved with the implementation and management of large Works Contracts.

 
 
COURSE RECOGNITION
 
The courses are regarded by FIDIC as providing part of the appropriate training for any person wishing to apply to the National Adjudicators’ lists of FIDIC the FIDIC President’s List of Approved Dispute Adjudicators. The courses are also accredited by the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania and engineers participating in one course will be awarded 16 Professional Development Units (PDUs).
 
COURSE TUTOR
 
The principal tutor is Eng. Geoffrey Smith, B.Sc (Civil Engineering), PgD (Law), PgD  (Accounts & Finance), CEng (UK),  FCIArb (Fellow, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators), FICE (UK), Barrister and Member of the International Bar Association.
 
Eng. Smith is a specialist trainer working with Training Supplier M/s PS Consulting which is accredited by FIDIC and works in partnership with FIDIC
 
REGISTRATION AND ATTENDANCE FEE
 
Delegate fee is USD 850.00 per course and it is payable in advance. The fee is inclusive of refreshments, course materials and lunch. For 2 or more delegates from the same organization or a delegate who registers and pays registration fee by 10th 31st March, 2012 delegate fee is USD 800.
 
A delegate who registers for both courses will pay a total of USD 1,500.00 and organizations that sponsor between 5 and 9 delegates will be given a discount of 10% while those sponsoring more than 10 participants will be given a discount of 15 percent.
